Goals

As part of its mandate to support French international solidarity associations, the NGO's Microprojects division La Guilde offers new training sessions in micro-development project management. The training courses present simple methodological tools for setting up a development project. They allow participants to master the language of development and donors, allowing for a more "professional" presentation of their project. They offer participants the opportunity to acquire theoretical and methodological elements related to development project management. They combine theory and practical exercises. These training courses are also a place for exchanges and networking between associations or project leaders.

Training objective:

After designing a development project, you must be able to sustain your initiative. Indeed, it must last over time and aim for a long-term impact. To do this, you must, for example, think about cover operating costs, ensure equipment maintenance and guarantee continuity in training. If the State or decentralized structures do not have the financial means for this, you will absolutely have to set up income-generating activities (IGAs). The objective of this training is therefore to provide you with the keys and tools to set up these AGRs.

  • Know the different types of existing AGR and the related issues;
  • Know how to align your approach with the different stages necessary for the implementation and proper functioning of an AGR;
  • Know how to use the main technical tools linked to the implementation of an AGR;

TRAINING CONTENT

The one-day training session will support theoretical elements – based on a participatory and interactive training principle – with practical cases, testimonials, and exercises. A presentation of IGAs and their characteristics will be provided. The steps prior to launching the activity (specificity of territorial and sectoral diagnosis, market research, financial projections, development of a strategic plan) will be studied. This training will also cover the implementation of an IGA, management and monitoring tools, and risk anticipation.

Tools covered

  • Operating account
  • Initial diagnosis
  • Market research and marketing plan

Practical case discussed

  • A fruit processing workshop in an agricultural cooperative in Haiti
  • Setting up a piglet farm

Audience

The primary target audience is primarily small and medium-sized NGOs and international solidarity associations. Participants may have a minimum level of knowledge in methodology, but this is not mandatory.
