The commune of Goris, in the Syunik region, was one of the first to welcome refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh. These refugees, along with the inhabitants of neighboring villages, possess considerable agricultural expertise but face difficulties in marketing their produce. Although local products (honey, dried fruit, herbal teas, jams, etc.) are abundant and of high quality, producers lack both the resources and the outlets to sell them.
The Francophone Cultural Center of Goris, already involved in an agritourism development project (Gyughatun), identified this need during its discussions with the villagers. This new project responds to the demand for promoting local produce, while creating economic opportunities in a rural context where jobs are scarce.
The goal is to create baskets composed of emblematic products from each village, thus promoting fair trade and respect for traditional production methods.
50 beneficiaries: refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh and residents of the villages of Goris, mainly young people and agricultural producers.
Through its Microprojects division, the NGO La Guilde, in partnership with the French Development Agency and the Fondation de France, supports the implementation of microprojects serving sustainable development internationally.
