Sustainable systems and Amazonian solidarity: agroforestry as a link for cooperation

Nature Rights Guyana

Nature Rights is a non-profit organization (governed by the French law of 1901) whose purpose is to implement and promote initiatives related to the "Rights of Nature," based on the principle of interdependence between humans and nature. It operates using a systemic approach, through advocacy campaigns, support for local communities in developing field projects focused on agroecology and traditional knowledge, and facilitation of territories in transition. In 2017, the organization launched the Forest Knowledge Program in French Guiana, which aims to gather, support, promote, strengthen, and develop local initiatives related to traditional knowledge, agroecology, and sustainable environmental management practices. It subsequently created the Forest Knowledge Network (RSF), a local network of project leaders from traditional communities, whom it supports in managing their projects. She also manages the network by coordinating activities between members to promote networking, mutual support, and encounters between generations and different ethnic groups, both local and European.

Social networks

A dual support and funding mechanism for overseas civil society organizations, the CORÉOM program – Overseas Regional Cooperation – encourages regional and international cooperation dynamics among associations based in Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Martinique, Mayotte, and Réunion. Financially supported by the French Development Agency (AFD) and the Fondation de France, CORÉOM is implemented by La Guilde, with a set of territorial networks and relay partners in the five territories.
