In Senegal, Water security is at the heart of the country's development and in particular its socio-economic development objectives. The deterioration of its water resources and the lack of an institutional framework threaten both the country's water security and its economic growth. While the national socio-economic development plan (the Emerging Senegal Plan – PSE) aims to mobilize "abundant and good quality water for all, everywhere and for all uses, in a healthy and sustainable environment" by 2035, it does not take into account constraints related to the availability or management of water resources posing a real development challenge within the country.
The village of Moudéry, located in the far east of Senegal, on the Mauritanian border, is very exposed to this problem since Its water sanitation system is insufficient for its 14,000 inhabitants. Today, with two major boreholes and connections linking the water systems, The production of drinking water is insufficient to meet the needs of each of the inhabitants. This leads women to return to fetching water directly from the river, preventing them from developing their own businesses. The village therefore needs to expand its water network to meet the needs of a growing population.
Thus, through this project, the Organization of People from Moudéry, comes to the aid of the village with a project to extend the drinking water network existing in partnership with the Rural Drilling Office. This implies the construction of a well and a water tower additional.
