The Bekaman Dispensary is located in the rural village of Bekamnan, the seat of the Mango canton chief. It is the only health center for an area of responsibility populated by more than 16,000 inhabitants, quite far from the town of Doba and difficult to access during the rainy season. This dispensary is therefore a local health center at a very low cost for the local population.
Built by the Friends of the Bekamnan Dispensary (ADIBE) between 2000 and 2020 in cooperation with the National Coordination of Socio-Sabitary Works of the ACT, a basic electrical installation, powered by solar panels, was installed by a local craftsman. The choice of equipment—the least expensive possible—and the installation—without minimal electrical or mechanical protections—led to rapid deterioration. Only the maternity and pediatric buildings were brought up to standard in 2023 during a volunteer mission by ADIBE: the electrical network in the other buildings requires rehabilitation. Some buildings are also not yet connected, and require the installation of the electrical network.
Enable the development and ensure the proper technical functioning of the Bekamnan Health Center in order to improve the living conditions of staff and the reception of patients
Renovation of the electrical supply system of several buildings
Electrification of new buildings at the Health Center
5000 beneficiaries: patients attending the health center and living in the village of Bekamnan and neighboring localities, and the health center staff
