Creation of a cultural center for people with disabilities

According to the WHO, 151% of Guinea's population lives with a disability. Behind this figure are thousands of people facing daily social and economic exclusion. Limited access to education, inadequate infrastructure, and virtually no employability... the obstacles are numerous. Despite some public programs for social inclusion, the issue of disability remains largely marginalized. It is the associations on the ground that are taking up the mantle.

Wombere is one of them. In 2015, she launched Handicapable, a socio-professional integration project for young people with disabilities, driven by the creation of an artistic troupe. Training programs quickly followed, professionalizing the troupe and enabling it to generate its own income.

Today, Handicapable benefits from strong institutional partnerships, notably with government ministries, the UNDP, and the Franco-Guinean Cultural Center, which lend it credibility and political viability. Building on this foundation, the project is entering a new phase: the construction of the Wombere space, a venue combining a cultural space to promote social inclusion, a craft workshop for training, and a bakery for sales and to enable financial independence.
