Senegal aims to achieve quality education for all by 2030, thanks in particular to the Project for Improving the Quality and Equity of Basic Education (PAQEEB).
In Agnam Lidoubé, social housing was built in 2009 to accommodate teachers, but there are too many to house them all. Until a permanent housing solution is available, the village's three teachers are being hosted free of charge by other villagers. This poses a risk to the students, who could see their teachers leave due to the lack of permanent housing. However, the village school is ranked among the best in the region, thanks to the village's efforts in welcoming public sector employees.
At the same time, residents established a participatory citizens' forum, held every five years, to determine the direction of economic and social development and identify residents' needs. During the 2014 forum, the construction of housing was discussed.
The issue of housing for the three homeless teachers was raised. Due to a lack of implementation, this project was reaffirmed at the 3rd edition of the Forum organized in 2020. A partnership between the Association for the Sociocultural Development of Agnam Lidoubé (ADSCAL) – France and ADSCAL-Senegal was proposed to build housing for the three teachers.
The Nubian vault construction method has been identified as the most suitable for this project, as it offers numerous ecological advantages, qualities of use as well as thermal and acoustic comfort.
