The National Health and Social Development Plan 2019-2028, developed by Senegal, is based on universal access to quality health and social services. Health is one of the nine areas of responsibility transferred to local administrative authorities, but municipalities lack the resources to meet the needs of their populations in several sectors, including health.
The Tourimé health post was built in 2007, and is the only hospital for the entire Bakel department and its approximately 138,867 inhabitants. To alleviate pressure on the hospital, health authorities have encouraged the creation of local health posts or clinics in villages along the river, in accordance with the Public Health Policy guidelines. However, in the Diéri area, which is defined as a non-flood zone, the Tourimé health post remains the only primary care facility for 10 villages: Salamatou, Manthiabou, Namandiry, Mbomoyabé, Sabouciré, Ounoumbaba, Wouro Hamady, Diamwély, Diamwély Garage, and Bondji.
This health post can no longer meet the population's healthcare needs, The health authorities at the departmental and municipal levels, and those responsible for the health map, have, after a technical diagnosis, validated the extension, renovation and equipping of the Tourimé health post. So, the French association Amicale pour l'Entraide et la Solidarité partnered with the municipality of Moudéry, in the department of Bakel, in order to carry out these works and training for the management committee.
2,000 people live in Tourimé, from 0 to 70 years old. There are women, girls, men, boys, and people with reduced mobility.
Through its Microprojects division, the La Guilde association, in partnership with the French Development Agency, supports the implementation of microprojects in the service of sustainable development internationally.
