Construction of a chicken coop for the education of children at the Haut Moulin school in Haiti

Children, the future of the world

Context

In Haiti, transporting food products is difficult due to political, economic, and social insecurity, which also contributes to food insecurity. Cases of malnutrition are increasing, and the need for emergency food aid is growing.

Faced with this situation, the Association of Natives of Grande Plaine (AOG) based in Gros Morne is strengthening local systems for the benefit of children.

Thus, in 2018, the associations AOG and Enfants avenir du Monde (EAM) joined forces to build a chicken coop at the Salvation Army school in Grépin, in an area about 15km from Gros Morne, a project that worked well and inspired the one in Haut-Moulin.

Lacking any means of subsistence, agricultural production in Gros Morne cannot meet the population's food needs. It relies on annual and seasonal crops such as sugarcane, pigeon peas, corn, and beans. The first to be affected are the area's vulnerable children.
