The program CORÉOM – Overseas Regional Cooperation, supported by La Guilde with the support of’AFD and of the Foundation of France, strengthens the dynamics of solidarity and international cooperation in the overseas territories. A new presentation brochure highlights its objectives, its results and the voices of the stakeholders involved.

A program serving overseas CSOs

Based on a diagnosis carried out in Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Martinique, Réunion and Mayotte, the CORÉOM program responds to three needs expressed by civil society organizations (CSOs):

  • difficult access to financing,
  • the lack of visibility of the initiatives,
  • the need for support tailored to local realities.

To address this, CORÉOM proposes a innovative dual system, combining local support and financial assistance.

The main areas of action

1) Tailored support

CORÉOM offers CSOs a structured pathway that includes:

  • A individualized support for project design and management,
  • of the group training sessions on key themes (governance, partnerships, financial management),
  • A easy access to local and international partner networks.

2) Appropriate financing

In parallel, CORÉOM offers a targeted financing mechanism which addresses the needs of small and medium-sized CSOs. This mechanism bridges the gap between local micro-financing and large international calls for projects, which are often difficult to access.

The priority themes of the program

By 2025, the projects supported by CORÉOM will cover five priority areas:

These themes reflect the essential issues for overseas societies and strengthen their participation in international cooperation.

The key role of relay partners

CORÉOM operates through a network of strategic partners present in each territory. Their mission:

  • ensure a local support,
  • relaying useful information to project leaders,
  • to facilitate networking with local and regional institutions.

These relays are essential to ensure the relevance and effectiveness of the program.

«CORÉOM is the perfect continuation of what we started. It's the missing link between small foundations and large calls for projects such as European funding.»
