Founded in 1993 in Port-au-Prince by the Max Cadet Foundation, The dental clinic in the Canapé-Vert neighborhood is today one of the leading oral healthcare facilities in Haiti.. Destroyed during the 2010 earthquake, it was quickly reinstalled in converted containers and a mobile dental clinic. It receives an average of 150 patients per day, mostly from disadvantaged populations in the metropolitan area, at very low prices. It also conducts prevention programs in schools and handles complex cases, such as the maxillofacial surgery and removal of oral tumors. However, its functioning is weakened by the deep crisis the country is going through. The public grid provides only two to four hours of electricity per day, and the clinic relies on a diesel generator. Gold, Fuel has become scarce and its price very unstable. Shortages lead to days of closure and untreated patients, and the cost of energy prevents the clinic from achieving financial equilibrium. To secure its operations, the Max Cadet Foundation and its partner in France have launched a solar-powered electricity supply project.
39,000 patients from Port-au-Prince and neighboring departments
