The village of Maroharona is located about twenty kilometers away northwest of Fianarantsoa, in the Haute Matsiatra region, at Madagascar. He counts 88 households, For most, the village is inhabited by landless peasants who cultivate rice on very small plots or work as agricultural laborers. The village has no electricity. As in many rural areas of Madagascar, Some of the children are not in school or are regularly absent to help with farm work. In this context, the’community school created in 1988 by the’Malagasy association Fifanampiana Malagasy (CSM-Fifa) plays a central role. It currently accommodates 66 children, from kindergarten to fifth grade, and its free canteen, funded for many years by Secours populaire français, guarantees a daily meal for students. However, the school faces several difficulties Its oldest building, made of raw earth, is deteriorating, teachers lack pedagogical training, and the canteen is entirely dependent on external funding. In January 2026, a joint mission by CSM-Fifa and Secours populaire français (French Popular Relief) conducted a shared assessment with teachers, parents, and the local CSM-Fifa branch. The project priorities were then validated during community meetings.
