In the province of Taroudant, At southern Morocco (Souss-Massa region), the Amalou village has been facing a water scarcity, aggravated by drought. Its 235 inhabitants have no drinking water network. They depend on a community reservoir, originally supplied by a spring intended for agriculture, with no guarantee of water quality. Since the 2023 earthquake, the municipality has been supplying this reservoir by tanker truck twice a week. The chore of fetching water essentially relies on...women and girls, and can take up to four hours a day. The village also lacks’'sanitary facilities. To address these difficulties, the village association, The group, composed mainly of women, mobilized its own partners to carry out a 120-meter borehole in October 2025. It then applied for Eau Soleil Rhône Alpes, active in the region since 2017 and already present in the neighboring village of Amzaourou. The project is part of the action plan of the municipality of Assaki, which supports it
235 inhabitants of the village of Amalou. This represents a total of 37 families affected.
