Creation of a kindergarten to enable women's autonomy

In Sinthiou Boumaka, Mauritania, women have already transformed their village thanks to a market gardening project. But a new obstacle is hindering their progress: without childcare facilities for their young children, they cannot work full-time or offer their little ones a first step towards school.

In Mauritania, only 7% of children have access to preschool education; in rural areas, this figure is even lower. Yet, studies show that this is where it all begins. A child who receives proper support before primary school is a child who succeeds better.

That's why the women of the cooperative mobilized to carry out a simple and sensible project: creating a kindergarten that frees up mothers to work and prepares children for learning. This facility plans to welcome 75 children aged 3 to 6, supervised by 5 trained instructors.
