Noubou Community and Agroecological Garden

Association of Young People from Salémata in Kédougou

Context

In the Kédougou region, in southeastern Senegal near the border with Guinea, rural exodus, illegal immigration and illegal gold mining are major problems.

The village of Noubou is difficult to access from the road between Kédougou and Salémata, which poses a significant obstacle to marketing produce grown in the village and its surroundings, as well as to maintaining adequate healthcare. Poverty and food insecurity are also challenges that the population is trying to overcome.

In this context, the Association of Young People from Salémata in Kédougou wishes to improve the living conditions of the inhabitants of Noubou and reduce rural exodus through food self-sufficiency by creating a sustainable agricultural model.

Project objectives

Improving the living conditions of the inhabitants of Noubou and the surrounding villages through food self-sufficiency

Supporting a return to the land for young people and women, enabling them to earn income and achieve social success

Create an exemplary sustainable agricultural model that can be scaled up and replicated.

Combating rural exodus
