Burkina Faso is going through a political, economic and security crisis that particularly affects the most vulnerable populations.
In the northern region, insecurity has forced many families left their villages to take refuge in Ouahigouya, whose population has more than tripled in recent years. Water and energy infrastructure, already limited, is now saturated, exacerbating the precarious situation of residents and displaced persons.
The population is also suffering from a food insecurity, This further weakens living conditions. The region, heavily affected by the water shortage and the desertification, sees a large part of its agricultural population forced into exile and a increasing school dropout children.
In this context, P3 and Movement France have established a recycling center in Ouahigouya since 2014, directly supporting 22 families, primarily targeting women, through the creation of’income-generating activities.
Since 2024, to go further, the partners have launched the project "« Women's Garden» on a one-hectare plot, in order to promote a sustainable family farming, based on the agricultural know-how of displaced families. Since the start of the project, the land has been fenced, a borehole drilled, and a group of 12 women has been formed and has received initial training in composting.
