The village of Kossicopé is isolated, due to its location more than 10km from the town of Tohoun.
His primary school consists of simple structures made of wood and palm branches. Learning conditions are poor, and classes and assessments must be regularly canceled during the rainy season, increasing absenteeism.
Since the school does not have latrines, children defecate in the open, in full view of everyone and without any hygiene, which affects the children's health and makes it difficult for teachers to properly supervise them. There is also no drinking water point in the school.
The Togolese association ACDev worked alongside parents and teachers to first form a Project Management Committee, which gathered needs and then mobilized local authorities. After several months of consultation between the various stakeholders and beneficiaries, ACDev called on the French association MERVEILLES du Monde to jointly implement this school construction project.
